Clarisonic Brush F.A.Q.

Clariconic Skin Care Brush Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Clarisonic?

Clarisonic is an innovative Skin Care Brush used to cleanse the skin, developed by a team led by the primary inventor of the Sonicare toothbrush.

Why is it unique?

Clarisonic is the latest innovation in advanced skincare. The sonic technology works with the natural elasticity of the skin to provide gentle clarisonic brushdaily cleansing. Oscillating back and forth at a sonic frequency that produces over 300 movements per second, a flexing action is created between the outer and inner brushes that works deeply and gently to loosen dirt and oil from the pores.

What are the benefits of the Clarisonic's sonic cleansing?
  • Leaves your skin feeling and looking smoother
  • Increases product absorption
  • Gentle enough for daily use
  • Deeply cleanses and stimulates the skin
  • Waterproof for use in the shower
What is included with the Clarisonic Skin Care Brush?

The Clarisonic System Kit includes the brush handle, two brush heads (for normal and sensitive skin), a charging cradle and a 2 oz sample of the Clarisonic Daily Cleanser.

skin care brush in use Has it been dermatologist tested?

Yes, and it is being recommended by and used to augment in-office treatments by skin care professionals (dermatologists, cosmetic surgeons, aestheticians).

How is this different from a microdermabrasion product?

Microdermabrasion products abrade the skin and are not meant for daily use. Clarisonic uses sonic oscillation and the skin's natural elasticity to clean gently, deeply and thoroughly and can be used twice daily.

How do I use the Clarisonic?

Prior to first use, charge for 24 hours. To use the Clarisonic, remove eye makeup if you wear it. Wet the face with warm water and apply cleanser. Wet the Clarisonic brush head with warm water, press the power button, and gently move the brush in circular movements across the face. It is recommended that you use the brush for 20 seconds on the forehead, 20 seconds on the nose/mouth and 10 seconds on each cheek. When you are finished, rinse the brush and place back in the charger. The Clarisonic comes with two power levels: normal and low. Refer to the User Guide for additional information.

How often can it be used?

Clarisonic is gentle enough for use twice daily and should be used as part of your daily skin care regimen.

Satisifed Clarisonic customer What type of cleanser should I use?

The Clarisonic cleanser is optimized for use with the Clarisonic, but you can use any non-abrasive cleanser.

Can I use the Clarisonic in the shower or bathtub?

Your Clarisonic handle is waterproof for use in the shower or bathtub. As with any electrical device, DO NOT use the Clarisonic charging cradle while bathing, or where it can fall or be pulled into a tub or sink. See the User Guide for more information.

Is the Clarisonic for use only on the face?

Clarisonic also effectively cleans the neck, back, decollete (upper chest), shoulders, arms, and the back of the hands.

Can it be used on sensitive skin?

Yes, and the Clarisonic kit also includes a Sensitive skin brush. If you use another cleanser, test it with the Clarisonic on your forearm prior to using it on your face. Some cleansers, including those with acids, may irritate your skin when used with the Clarisonic Skin Care Brush.

Can I use the Clarisonic if I have mature skin?

The Clarisonic is designed for use with most skin types.

Can I use the Clarisonic if I have acne or if I have other skin conditions?

If you are under a doctor's care for any skin condition, or if you have or think you may have a skin condition, consult your physician.

Do NOT use the Clarisonic if you:
  • have heightened skin allergies
  • have an extreme sunburn
  • have open wounds or open lesions
  • are taking medication that can cause skin sensitivity
  • have recently had a facial cosmetic procedure
  • have rosacea, pustular acne, or serious sensitive-skin disorders and/or infections
Which power setting and brush head should I use for my skin type?

The Clarisonic is designed for use with most skin types. Your skin is constantly changing, and due to its dynamic nature you may want to use different power levels, brush heads, and a shorter or longer duration. The Clarisonic is packaged with the Sensitive brush head (white plastic base) installed. The Normal brush head (gray plastic base) is also included. We recommend that you first use your Clarisonic with the Sensitive brush head at the low power level for a one-minute duration (this is the factory setting). Then you can customize it for your skin type: Sensitive or Normal brush head; normal or low power setting; one- or two-minute duration.

How do I adjust the power level?

The Clarisonic has 2 power levels: normal and low. Power level is indicated both audibly and visually. When the Clarisonic is turned on at normal power, there are 3 ascending beeps and the yellow light is illuminated. At low power, there are 3 descending beeps and the yellow light is turned off.

To toggle between the settings, hold the power button down for 3 seconds continuously when turning on the Clarisonic. Listen for the change in beeps. The Clarisonic will operate at this power setting until you change it.

How do I adjust the duration time?

The Clarisonic features a proprietary one-minute T-timer that beeps and pauses momentarily to indicate it is time to move to another part of your face. The Clarisonic is factory set with a one-minute duration. To change the cleansing duration, turn your Clarisonic on and hold the power button for at least 10 seconds. At around 3 seconds, you will hear three tones (related to the Power Level) and then you will hear beep tones relating to the optional cleansing and interval beeps. Refer to the User Guide for more information.

Can I share brush heads?

It is recommended that you do not share a brush head with another individual. Do not share brushes if you or any other Clarisonic user have any skin conditions.

How do I clean my Clarisonic?

Once a week wash the brush head and the handle separately using warm soapy water to remove any residue buildup. The handle is sealed and fully waterproof. NEVER attempt to open the brush handle for any reason. To dry the bristles after use, rub the brush head against a towel for 5-10 seconds while the Clarisonic is powered on. DO NOT use abrasive cleaners or chemicals to clean any part of the Clarisonic. DO NOT put any part of the Clarisonic in a dishwasher.

UNPLUG the charging cradle before you clean it. After unplugging the cradle, wipe it with a soft, damp cloth. DO NOT immerse the cradle in water.

How often should I charge my Clarisonic?

Charge your Clarisonic overnight after every 30 minutes of use. For example, if you use the brush once a day, you only need to charge it overnight every 30 days. If you use it twice a day, charge it overnight once every two weeks. If the Clarisonic is used for 30 or more minutes without being charged, the brush handle will beep immediately following the brushing cycle to alert you to place it in the cradle for charging.

How often should I replace the brush head?

The Clarisonic brush heads should be replaced every 3-4 months as the bristles become fatigued and less effective over time. Purchase replacement brush heads from your skin care professional, physician, medi-spa or Clarisonic retailer.

How much is the Clarisonic?

The Clarisonic Skin Care Brush system retails for $195.

Can I use a converter with the Clarisonic for international travel?

For international travel, refer to the Clarisonic User Guide for more information on voltage converters.
